Happy Tuesday everyone! T-minus 3 days until our big San Francisco vacation (stay tuned for the two part Photo Story) and I’m determined to keep my workout momentum so that I can fully enjoy the trip and all the delicious food that comes with it! I am thrilled to announce that I made it to 145 pounds as of this morning. I’ve lost 15 pounds, and I feel great. Not only do I have more energy, my body is thriving because I take the time to plan how much protein, calcium, sodium, and sugar I ingest everyday. Everyone, I can’t stress enough that meal plans work miracles to keep you on track!
Michael (my fiancé), once said something about exercising that really stuck with me: deciding and committing to a workout each day and getting outside with your shoes on and attitude high is half the battle. The workout is the easy part, but getting off your butt and actually going outside or getting on the equipment, is the hard part. I really believe that’s true, and this mentality has helped me consistently workout 6 days a week for two months.
I heard the drip, drip, drip on my window before I was even fully awake. Darn it! I guess I can’t go out for my run today! I thought (half gleefully). But remember my motto: Something is always better than nothing. Here’s how I solve my problem. It’s actually a lot of fun, I promise. Indoor exercising is real, and produces some awesome results. I do it all the time. Not only is it a nice break from monotonous running (I’m not actually a big fan of running), it definitely works up a sweat, and gets your body moving in ways that running doesn’t.
Tiffany Rothe makes some of my favourite workout videos. Ignore the title and focus on my review of this video. This works your back and waist muscles out like crazy. You’ll feel it tomorrow, if not later today. It’s ten minutes of your day, and you will work up a very respectable sweat. I have a lot of fun doing this, it’s kind of like dancing!
Ok, this next one is awesome too. These ladies sure know how to work up a burn in the hips. I have seen significant results in my own body after doing this mini hip workout regularly. 5 minutes per side only?! Yep, works for me. Motivation tip: to motivate myself to workout everyday, I make little deals with myself. *Important* they don’t involve rewarding myself with food. For example, I did not let myself watch last Wednesday’s Suits episode until I went for a run.
The last video here is my favourite because of the intensity. After a few times participating in the exercises, I had to turn the sound off. You’ll see why.
I use these three videos as a full workout on days where I either don’t feel like running, or it’s raining outside. They’re fun, fast, and they get the job done. When I first started doing these workouts, I used to feel silly and embarrassed. Now, I wouldn’t care who was watching! I have fun, get sweaty, and feel accomplished.
